BACKPACKING ALL OVER TO TRAIN FOR THE PCT!

I am planning on doing a Backpacking trip from Mexico to Canada on the PCT.  Lots of miles but the scenery alone will be worth it.  Family is supportive, friends say “Do it”! So what else is there except to plan and prepare and train.  I have almost all of my ultralite gear and I have read every book imaginable and am reading all of the trail journals.  I am mentally ready and even psychologically ready, now to get the body back in shape.   Just hit a milestone  this year so now I am off to conquer the world.

Planning a “PCT” trip for 2017!

Hiking the Pacific Coast Trail Southbound from Canada to the end of Oregon where it meets California.

Well,  I’m off!  Planning that is.  I have been researching tons of backpacking gear for weeks.  Packs, Pads, Sleep systems, Tents etc etc.  I have finally chosen but still not have it all purchased.  Here is the basic stuff.

Tent- Big Agnes Copper SPur Ul1.  Nothing is every cheap. 2.3 lb.

Sleeping Bag- Western Mountaineering “Versalite” Bag, 10 degree, 850 fill, weight 1.12lb.

Pad-Air rail Sleeping Pad.  1.9 lb.

Pack- Osprey ariel65 women’s med “Deep sea blue”   This could change however if I find              an ultra-lite pack I like better.  4lbs. 15 oz.  That is a lot of weight.

So my base weight will be about 10 pounds,  if I get the lighter pack, it will be around 10.
